What is STITCHES?
 STITCHES is a fiber experience for knitters and crocheters. It includes classes on topics from design to finishing with every topic in between. The STITCHES Market is a shopping experience you won't want to miss with vendors who come from across the United States and around the world to display the latest yarns and gadgets sure to inspire your creativity. The one-hour market sessions are designed to give you a taste of a topic to see if you want to pursue it further, and the free demonstrations and book signings occur for your enjoyment.
If you want a more relaxed and in-depth experience, STITCHES ETC is for you. This two-day event occurs following the close of STITCHES. You have the opportunity to spend two days with a select teacher delving into a single topic and covering it in more depth than can happen during the regular STITCHES event. Gone are the distractions of shopping in the Market and the need to get to another class. Focus on the topic, get to know the teacher and your classmates, and even enjoy some relaxing conversation with people from other classes during the lunches which are provided.

When will STITCHES take place in 2014-2015?
STITCHES occurs four time a year in different regions of the United States.

How do I register?
As each show prepares to open, we send an e-newsletter announcing the opening. Click here to subscribe to the e-newsletter and stay up to date on the latest STITCHES happenings. There are four possible ways to register: 
    Okay: Fax the completed registration form including 1st, 2nd and 3rd class choices with credit card information. to 605-338-2994. Please note: STITCHES is not responsible for faxes which are not received or which are received incomplete. Every attempt will be made to reach the sender and notify them of problems, however, class spots will not be reserved until registration is complete.
     Good: Mail the completed registration form including 1st, 2nd and 3rd class choices with payment (credit card or check) to STITCHES Registration PO Box 965 Sioux Falls, SD 57101
     Better: Call 800-237-7099 (International 00+1+605-338-2450). Please have your class choices and your credit card ready before calling.
     Best: You can register on-line at www.knittinguniverse.com/events. Select your event and begin the registration process. When a current email address is supplied, a receipt will be emailed immediately upon completion of the order. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam filter. If you would like a receipt mailed to you, you can call customer service to request it.

Please note there is a $10 change fee each time you make a change following your initial registration.

Can I register more than one person for the same class?
You can only reserve one spot in a class on each registration. If you want to register for more than one person, you will need to complete the first registration, log out of the system, and then log in (using their user id and password) or create a new log in for them. You can then proceed chose their classes. Note: if you log out and and log back in using your own password, the system will think you have created two orders and combine them (no matter what you put in the badge area). This is why you need two log ins.

How much does it cost to attend STITCHES?

The answer to this question depends on what you are doing at the event. Are you just attending the Market? Are you only attending a special event? Are you taking one class or more than one class? The cost varies depending upon the answers to those questions. Please see the Class Costs page for pricing information. Remember if you sign up for any classes or paid special events, your entrance into the STITCHES Market is included so you do not have to purchase a Market ticket.

Where do I stay?
We have special discounted STITCHES room blocks at our host hotels (the hotels connected or closest to each show). Those room blocks will become available to you on the same day that we open registration for that show's events and classes. We will also have 'Hotel Information' links on each STITCHES events page with more hotel information.

Can I attend the Market without taking classes?
Yes, the market is open to the public Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The entrance fee is $10 for a 1 day pass; $15 for a two day pass and $20 for a three day pass.

Can I register on-site?
Yes, on-site registration is available; however some classes do sell-out so you will want to register early to make sure you get the classes you want.

How do I pay the "materials fee"?
On classes where a materials fee is listed, the teacher will be supplying some of what is needed to make the class successful. This may include hard to find items or other items which may be difficult for a person new to the technique to acquire. In all cases, this fee is in addition to the normal class fee and is paid directly to the teacher on the day of the class. Please bring exact change if possible.

What is a promo code?
Promo codes are created by the STITCHES staff for a variety of reasons including but not limited to people who have volunteered at past STITCHES events; people who notified us of a cancellation after the date for a refund but who still qualified for a partial credit; and customers of STITCHES sponsors who have received a code from them. Your code should be entered into the payment screen where applicable. The amount associated with the code will be subtracted from the total due and the balance if any will be billed to your credit card. If you send your registration by fax or mail and want to use a promo code be sure to include it with your registration.

Why didn't I receive my registration receipt?
A receipt is automatically emailed when a registration is completed. If you did not receive a receipt please check the following:
1) Do we have a correct email address? You can log into your account to check your email address. If you find it is incorrect, you can correct it and call 800-237-7099 to have a new copy sent.
 2) If the email address is correct, check your spam filter (junk mail). Be sure to have stitchesregistration@xrx-inc.com in your address book so that you receive our information.
3) If you registered online, did you complete the registration process? After you entered your credit card information, you were given a summary of your order to confirm what you were being charged. Did you click the button at the bottom of the page to complete the order? If not, your order was not placed.

How do I know if I have the skills needed to take a class?
At STITCHES, we have five levels defined. On the left hand side of each class description you will see the level which is suggested by the teacher.
    No Skill required: Classes with this skill level will teach you everything that you need to know to successfully participate.
    Basic: If this is the skill level indicated, you need to know the basic stitches for either knitting (knit and purl) if it is a knitting class or crocheting (single and double crochet) if it is a crochet class.
    Easy: For this level, you should know the basic stitches (from the level above), and how to increase and decrease. You also have completed at least one project.
    Intermediate: If you have worked a few stitch patterns and are familiar with basic garment shaping, you would be ready for an intermediate level class.
    Advanced: This level is for knitters who enjoy a challenge and who are willing to think about their knitting. To take an advanced class, you should have made several garments in various stitch patterns, and you need to be comfortable making minor changes to patterns.

Do I get meals with my registration? 
If you ordered any (or all) of the following, you will receive a meal: Opening Day and Luncheon, also known as the Teacher a la carte (Thursday Noon); the Fashion Show and Dinner (Friday evening) or the Student Banquet and Style Show (Saturday evening). No other meals are provided at STITCHES. If you register for STITCHES ETC, lunch will be provided on both Monday and Tuesday.

What does registration to STITCHES include?
With the exception of registrations for free events only, your registration includes entrance to the specific classes and special events you chose and entrance to the STITCHES Market anytime it is open all weekend. This includes the Thursday evening preview.
It also includes entrance to any free events we host including occasional free presentations on Thursday evening by well known people in the industry. You may also attend the PJ party on Friday night.

When is the early-bird registration deadline?
The early-bird deadline for registration is listed on the top of each class list page.

I placed an order but when I went back and looked there was nothing in my shopping cart. What happened?
Just like when you place an order on Amazon.com or some other website, once the order is placed your shopping cart is emptied. You can access your receipt by going to your account page. If you are logged in to the Knitting Universe website, you will need to click the "Account" link in the upper right hand corner of the page. There you will see a summary of your STITCHES orders in order beginning with the most recent. To look at the order, click the little magnifying glass on the far right hand side of the page. Note: you can only view the order no changes are allowed on-line once the order has be placed.

How can I change a class?
Once you have completed your original order, you cannot access it to change it. If you want to change to your existing registration, you will need to call customer service at 800-237-7099 between 8am and 5pm (central time). Remember, there is a $10 change fee every time you call with a change, so be sure to make all your changes at once.

How do I add to my existing registration?
Once you have completed your original order, you cannot access it to change it. As you add classes to your order the cost per hour decreases, so calling and adding classes is better than creating a new order because you get the discounts. If you create a new order, the information from the two orders will be combined onto one badge but you will not receive the discount rate.

Do I need to check in when I arrive at STITCHES?
Yes, you should come to the Registration Desk which is located just outside the STITCHES Market. There you will receive your badge (which gets you into your classes and the Market), coupons for special deals being offered over the weekend, and a map of the facilities so you know where to find your classes and events.

Why haven't I received my STITCHES badge?
Your badge along with some other important information will be waiting for you at the STITCHES Registration desk located outside the market entrance.

What if I lose my badge?
No problem, just to go the STITCHES Registration desk with a valid ID, and we will reprint one for you.

How do I cancel my registration?
You can call 800-237-7099 or email stitchesregistration@xrx-inc.com. There is a cancellation fee equal to 15% of your STITCHES order. To determine whether or not you will qualify for a refund, please see the cancellation policy on your receipt or it can be found at the bottom of the class list pages.

Do you need volunteers at STITCHES?
We do use volunteers at STITCHES events both in the registration booth and in the information booth inside the market. For information about volunteering, please email stitchesregistration@xrx-inc.com and information including areas where help is needed and times will be forwarded to you.

Are children allowed at STITCHES?
Although STITCHES is a family-friendly event, classes, presentations and evening events are limited to ages 8 and above for everyone's enjoyment. Children 10 and under receive free admission to the market. I have a question that hasn't been answered here. What do I do? You can call our customer service department at 800-237-7099 and one of the staff will do their best to answer your question or find someone who can.
