Nov 7-10, 2013
Connecticut Convention Center &
Marriott Hartford Downtown, Hartford, CT
Welcome to the STITCHES East 2013 Social Media Resource Page!
We've also setup a Google Calendar to show all things scheduled for STITCHES Midwest... class times, market times, & event times.
As we get closer to the event, we'll also be putting a complete list of all market demonstrations, book signings, and other market place events in this calendar.
We invite you to subscribe to this calendar via iCal or using XML in Google calendars so you can have the updated schedule of events on your computer and/or your mobile devices.
You'll find complete instructions and tips on our STITCHES Midwest Calendar page.
Whether you're at the show or at home watching what's happening, we've got you covered with at least one of your favorite social media sites.
We've done our best to try to give you options for your computer, tablet, or mobile device. We hope you enjoy the show (virtually or otherwise).
There will be a lot of people talking about the show on Twitter. You can follow our company account @KniTalk. Our CEO, Benjamin Levisay (@BenjaminXRX) and our Marketing Manager, Lisa Mannes (@LisaXRX) will also be tweeting throught the weekend, so feel free to follow them as well.
If you want to follow what everyone is saying about STITCHES Midwest 2013, the easiest thing to do is to follow our hashtag: #STITCHESMidwest
We'd also ask that if you tweet from or about the show that you please remember to use the #STITCHESMidwest hashtag in your tweets.
We'll be putting a lot of pictures of the market as well as classes and our events on Facebook. If you're a social media voyeur, this is where you want to check up on the show.
Our main Facebook outlet will be our Knitting Universe Facebook page. This is where you'll find larger collections of images from our events. If you haven't 'Liked' us yet on Facebook, now is the time to do so.
If you see something on our Facebook page, please don't be afraid to make a comment or ask a question. We'll do our best to follow-up with you as time allows.
If you want to follow some of us individually you can check out our CEO, Benjamin Levisay at http://Facebook.com/BenjaminXRX and our Marketing Manager, Lisa Mannes at http://Facebook.com/LisaXRX.
We'll be tagging our vendors, sponsors, and teachers when possible... and we encourage you to 'Like' those Facebook pages as well.
We have a wonderful group on Ravelry that really has the inside scoop on what's happening. If you aren't on Ravlery you should be. And if you haven't found and joined our group... what's taking you so long (smile)?
Once you join the STITCHES Midwest 2013 Ravelry group, you'll have access to a lot of information and resources. We especially recommend checking out the STITCHES Midwest 2013 Vendor Preview thread as well as the great PDF Market map that Erin Garcia publishes for the show (coming soon).
Instagram is something that we're trying for the first time at this show (We're not sure why it took us so long).
Most people publish Instagram photos to Twitter and/or Facebook at the same time they publish them to Instagram. This gives us the opportunity to tag them with our #STITCHESMidwest hashtag. And although there isn't a way to search for hashtags on the Instagram site, you can search for those hashtags on your mobile devices (see the screen shots from an iPhone to the right).
Flickr is something that we've been doing for a while now. And we've sort of got this one down.
Our Flickr account name is xrxflickr. And we post all our stuff (brochures, the show book, events collections) in Sets on this site. But we also try to tag items so that you can view our images by the show itself.
For this event we'll be tagging our Flickr images with the tag 'stitchesmidwest'. If you use Flickr, we encourage you to do the same so that we can create a nice large photo album of the show.
And if you see something that we posted on Flickr, please feel free to share it elsewhere online as you wish.
Even though we don't have a lot of followers on Google+, we're going to do are best to upload interesting things from the Market as well as pictures from the STITCHES Midwest 2013 events.
If you're on Google+ we encourage you to follow our Knitting Universe Google+ page and share with us there as well.
RebelMouse is the newest thing we've gotten into. The great thing about our KniTalk RebelMouse feed is that we can show you pix from across many different social media sites (including Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Facebook, Google+, as well as other sources). You'll be able to check one site for pix of the Market as well as pictures from the STITCHES Midwest 2013 events.
You can check out our feed on our own pages or on the standalone KniTalk RebelMouse site (which is also mobile friendly).
Please feel free to take and share this image!
