What is STITCHES SoCal?
STITCHES SoCal is a crafter's experience for knitters, crocheters, weavers, sewers, quilters and more. It includes classes on everything from design to finishing. The STITCHES SoCal Market is a shopping experience you won't want to miss. Vendors come from across the United States and around the world display their latest wares to inspire your creativity. Free demonstrations in the booths and in The Playground add to the excitement.

Please refer to the Schedule on the bottom of the landing page for each event for complete details. Free presentations will vary from show to show and will be listed there.

How do I register?
As each show prepares to open, we send an e-newsletter announcing the opening. Click here to subscribe to the e-newsletter and stay up-to-date on the latest STITCHES happenings.
There are two possible ways to register:
Good: Call 605-338-2450 (International 00+1+605-338-2450). Please have your class choices and your credit card ready before calling.
Better: You can register on-line at https://KnittingUniverse.com/SoCal2019. Select your event and begin the registration process. When a current email address is supplied, a receipt will be emailed immediately upon completion of the order. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam filter. If you would like a receipt mailed to you, you can call customer service to request it.
Can I register more than one person for the same class?
You can only reserve one spot in a class on each registration. If you want to register for more than one person, you will need to complete the first registration, log out of the system, and then log in (using their user id and password) or create a new login for them. You can then proceed to chose their classes. Note: if you log out and log back in using your own password, the system will think you have created two orders and combine them (no matter what you put in the badge area). This is why you need two unique logins.
How much does it cost to attend STITCHES?
The answer to this question depends on what you are doing at the event. Are you just attending the Market? Are you only attending a special event? Are you taking one class or more than one class? The cost varies depending upon the answers to those questions. Please see the Class Costs page for pricing information. Remember if you sign up for any classes or paid special events, your entrance into the STITCHES Market is included so you do not have to purchase a Market ticket.
Where do I stay?
We have special discounted STITCHES room blocks at our host hotel (the hotels connected or closest to each show). Those room blocks will become available to you on the same day that we open registration for that show's events and classes. We will also have 'Hotel Information' links on each STITCHES events page with more hotel information.
Can I attend the Market without taking classes?
Yes, the market is open to the public Friday and Saturday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. The entrance fee is $14 for a 1-day pass and $20 for a two-day pass. We are doing away with 3-day passes and making Market entrance FREE for Sunday. You can now also purchase a Thursday evening Market Preview ticket for $15.
Can I register on-site?
Yes, on-site registration is available; however some classes do sell-out so you will want to register early to make sure you get the classes you want.
How do I pay the "materials fee"?
On classes where a materials fee is listed, the teacher will be supplying some of what is needed to make the class successful. This may include hard-to-find items or other items which may be difficult for a person new to the technique to acquire. In all cases, this fee is in addition to the normal class fee and is paid directly to the teacher on the day of the class. Please bring exact change if possible.
What is a promo code?
Promo codes are created by the STITCHES staff for a variety of reasons including but not limited to people who have volunteered at past STITCHES events; people who notified us of a cancellation after the date for a refund but who still qualified for a partial credit; and customers of STITCHES sponsors who have received a code from them. Your code should be entered into the payment screen where applicable. The amount associated with the code will be subtracted from the total due and the balance if any will be billed to your credit card. If you send your registration by fax or mail and want to use a promo code be sure to include it with your registration.
Why didn't I receive my registration receipt?
A receipt is automatically emailed when a registration is completed. If you did not receive a receipt please check the following:
1) Do we have a correct email address? You can log into your account to check your email address. If you find it is incorrect, you can correct it and call 605-338-2450 to have a new copy sent.
2) If the email address is correct, check your spam filter (junk mail). Be sure to have email@example.com in your address book so that you receive our information.
3) If you registered online, did you complete the registration process? After you entered your credit card information, you were given a summary of your order to confirm what you were being charged. Did you click the button at the bottom of the page to complete the order? If not, your order was not placed.

How do I know if I have the skills needed to take a class?
At STITCHES, we have five levels defined. On the left-hand side of each class description you will see the level suggested by the teacher.
No Skill required: You do not need to know anything about the craft, you will learn everything in class.
Basic: You know the basics of the craft—Simple knit, simple crochet stitches, how to sew with needle and thread and attach a button, how to run a sewing machine, etc.
Easy: You should have completed at least one project and understand additional techniques—increases and decreases in knitting and crochet, how to sew a 1/4- or 5/8-inch seam by hand or on a machine, etc.
Intermediate: You have made a few projects; tried a few techniques in sewing, knitting, crochet, etc; and understand how to make a basic project—from start to finish.
Experienced: You have made (knit, crocheted, or sewn) several projects and are ready for a technique or concept that is more challenging.
Additional specific requirements may be listed in the class description.
Do I get meals with my registration?
If you ordered any (or all) of the following, you will receive a meal: the Fashion Show and Dinner (Friday evening) or the Student Banquet and Style Show (Saturday evening). No other meals are provided at STITCHES.
What does registration to STITCHES include?
With the exception of registrations for free events only, your registration includes entrance to the specific classes and special events you chose and entrance to the STITCHES Market anytime it is open all weekend. It also includes entrance to the PJ Party on Friday night and any other free events we may host.
When is the early-bird registration deadline?
The early-bird deadline for registration is listed on the top of each class list page. For STITCHES SoCal 2019, the Early Bird registration deadline is August 20, 2019 at 11:59 pm CDT.
I placed an order but when I went back and looked there was nothing in my shopping cart. What happened?
Just like when you place an order on Amazon.com or some other website, once the order is placed your shopping cart is emptied. You can access your receipt by going to your account page. If you are logged in to the Knitting Universe website, you will need to click the "Account" link in the upper right-hand corner of the page. There you will see a summary of your STITCHES orders, in order, beginning with the most recent. To look at the order, click the little magnifying glass on the far right-hand side of the page. Note: you can only view the order. No changes are allowed on-line once the order has been placed.
How can I change a class?
Once you have completed your original order, you cannot access it to change it. If you want to change to your existing registration, you will need to call customer service at 605-338-2450 between 8am and 5pm (central time). After August 20, 2019 there is a $10 change fee for any schedule changes.

OR, you can create a new order, and the information from both orders will be combined onto one badge as long as you use the same log-in for both orders.
Do I need to check in when I arrive at STITCHES?
Yes, you should come to the Registration Desk which is located just outside the STITCHES Market. There you will receive your badge (which gets you into your classes and the Market), coupons for special deals being offered over the weekend, and a map of the facilities so you know where to find your classes and events.
Why haven't I received my STITCHES badge?
Your badge along with some other important information will be waiting for you at the STITCHES Registration desk located outside the market entrance.
What if I lose my badge?
No problem, just to go the STITCHES Registration desk with a valid ID, and we will reprint one for you.
How do I cancel my registration?
You can call 605-338-2450 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cancellations are subject to the following fees:
Until September 10, 2019, you will receive a refund less 20% of the cost of the entire registration.
After September 10, 2019 and until midnight November 1, you are not eligible for a refund but will be issued a courtesy credit to a future STITCHES event minus a processing fee equal to 20% of the order. Credits expire 3 years after the date issued and may be used for any STITCHES event.
Registrations cancelled after November 1, 2019 will not be eligible for a refund or a credit.
Class changes can only be made by calling the STITCHES office at 605-338-2450. There is no fee for switching classes until August 20, 2019. After August 20, 2019, any schedule changes (i.e. switching classes) are subject to a $10.00 fee.
STITCHES reserves the right to cancel any class.
Do you need volunteers at STITCHES?
We do use volunteers at STITCHES events both in the registration booth and in the information booth inside the market. For information about volunteering, please check on the website for a link to our volunteer sign-up page.
Are children allowed at STITCHES?
Although STITCHES is a family-friendly event, classes, presentations, and evening events are limited to ages 8 and above for everyone's enjoyment. Children 10 and under receive free admission to the Market.
Animals, other than properly identified service animals, are not allowed in the building. Note: Emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companion animals do not qualify as service animals under the ADA and are, therefore, not allowed at the show including in the Market, the classrooms, and the ballrooms and theater which may be used for evening events. Hotel or surrounding restaurant outlets, with which STITCHES has not contracted, may or may not allow non-service animals.
