Cast-Ons Estonian Style with Merike Saarniit
Firm, elastic, decorative. Any one or all 3 characteristics can be found in a variety of unusual yet functional cast-on techniques often used in Estonian knitting. We'll explore 1-color and 2-color braids, fringed, picot-edged, double-yarned, and doubled-stitch cast-ons, Estonian 'magic' cast-on, and see where best to use them.

Supplies
Assorted size needles, three balls of worsted weight yarn; one should be a light colored center pull ball, the other two are contrasting colors.

Homework
Practice standard long-tail cast on if you aren't totally comfortable with it yet.
