No skills required Opening Day Spotlight: Custom Fit Knit Jackets for every BODY Jean Frost
Jean's new book, Custom Knit Jackets — Casual to Couture, is really 3 books in one:
• A tutorial for custom-fitting the Master Jacket Pattern;
• A collection of jackets based on the Master, either your
custom pattern, or one of 10 standard sizes in 3 gauges;
• A source for details that add professional finish— collars, pockets, borders, and an optional handstitched silk lining—reminiscent of the designer touches that have made the Chanel Jacket a signature piece for more than 50 years.

Join us as Jean highlights the jackets and the details. Then her book comes to life with a team of beta testers representing a variety of sizes and shapes on reallife
bodies; you may even recognize a couple of faces. From taking measurements and making a life-size paper pattern; testing and perfecting the fit with a fabric mockup (before knitting a single stitch); selecting yarn, stitch pattern, and needle size; all the way to finishing their
jackets—they follow Jean's process. Along the way, Jean highlights how they adjusted the Master for common fitting issues such as shoulder width, arm length, and a fuller figure.

Discover jacket mastery: see how easy it is to get the fit, confirm it as you knit, and build on your success. When you work with a Master Pattern that fits, you know that every jacket will fit. Every time.

102-3 No skills required Intro to Color Laura Bryant
Color brings life and excitement to our knitting, yet many feel uncertain about how to approach color. The human eye is capable of discerning over three million distinct colors, yet most of us have untrained eyes. Laura presents color effects in tangible visual terms that illustrate why color combinations work or don't work. While a basic understanding of the color wheel is useful, this class will not present wheel based formulas such as many have heard of. A new way of sorting color and seeing relationships becomes the basis for exploring color through knitting. You will achieve a deeper understanding of color and perception, and Laura promises you will never look at color in the same way again. You will leave understanding Laura's favorite axiom: You don't get WOW by doing the expected!

511-3 Intermediate Turn Mistakes and Mishaps into Knowledge and Experience Leslye Solomon
Mistakes — we all have made them. Some are very obvious from the beginning; when your stitches accidentally fall off the needle, a single or multi-row dropped stitch in stockinette stitch, garter stitch or seed; a knit where you should have purled; a cable in the wrong direction, a lost yarn-over; and more. Through practice in this class, you will be able to fix a list of common mistakes possibly avoiding the need to start over or throw a garment away.
Some mistakes insidiously get noticed after the sweater is finished, because there was more information to be learned in that swatch you unraveled. Know the information which can help you avoid the problems of stretching or growing, and/or shrinking. Think of that sweater you once made and choose to not wear. This important class promises to arm you with the best information to prevent and fix a variety of mishaps and disappointing results that appear immediately or long after the garment is complete. Instead of consequences being your teacher, this problem-ending class will arm you with techniques to turn you into a confident, successful, target-oriented, and fearless knitter.

Most of us knit in one direction, but what would happen if you could knit in EITHER direction? Bobbles would pop out faster, entrelac would be even more fun, edgings would be added quicker and your yarn would be less tangled. Some call it knitting back backwards, but regardless of the name, it is a great skill to have in your knitting arsenal. You can learn the basics to knitting (and purling) in 'the other direction' regardless of the way you knit now! All it takes, as with most things, is a little bit of practice. Learn the how and the why and get started with what some students have called "the coolest thing they have ever learned in knitting".
