Miters by Design with Jane Slicer Smith
Miters have to be one of the simplest ways of achieving rewarding and colorful results. It is simply a basic garter stitch with a decrease, worked in two color stripes. Learn to pick up stitches and join colors as well as to weave in ends as you knit. Jane will demonstrate her use of miters from Capelets to A-line coats and as garment trims.
50 grams each of 2 colors, smooth, light-colored, #4 (worsted weight) yarn; 4.5mm/US 7 straight or circular needles; 1 double pointed or circular needle 3 sizes smaller to pick up stitches, a needle gauge; a calculator; a tape measure or ruler (both if you have them).
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
