Kids Socks with Sandi Rosner
Do you know children who are envious of your hand knit socks? Most sock patterns are published for adult sizes. In this class, we'll celebrate little feet. You'll find out about children's sock sizes and fitting issues. You'll learn to adapt a pattern planned for adults to children's sizes. You'll see how to design your own kids socks from the ground up (or cuff down). We'll explore the details and flourishes that will have the little ones lining up to be the next recipient of socks knit by you!
Bring a sock pattern you are interested in adapting for children, a small calculator, yarn, and the needles you prefer to use for small circumference circular knitting in a size appropriate for the yarn.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
If there is a particular child you want to make socks for, and you have access to their feet, make an outline of their foot by having them stand on a piece of paper and tracing around the foot. On this outline, note the circumference measurement around the ball of the foot.
Should have some experience knitting socks
