Ruffle Theory with Annie Modesitt
In this workshop, we'll delve into the wonderful world of knitted ruffles, from the ostentatious neck ruffs of Elizabethan England to the prim pleats at the hem of a sensible skirt, with several stops in between. We'll explore different methods of incorporating ruffles into our knitting, and practice a few different ruffles in class. Extensive handouts will include several ruffles to add to your repertoire.
In addition to homework swatch, one skein of #4 (worsted weight) yarn in a light color; straight needles appropriate to your yarn; and one set of 4 dpns the same size as your straight needles.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
Using smooth, worsted weight yarn in a light color and needles approporiate to your yarn, cast on 90 stitches. *P1, k9; repeat from * to end. Knit the knits and purl the purls for 2 inches. Leave on the needles and bring to class.
