Paint Your Toes: Stranded Colorwork for Socks with Janel Laidman
Knitting stranded colorwork for socks (Fair Isle technique) can be tricky, because it is a less elastic fabric than a regular knit. In this class, we will discuss strategies for compensating for this lack of elasticity and how to keep your tension even. We will look at shaping considerations, color choices, color effects, carrying both yarns in the same hand, carrying the yarns with both hands, knitting inside out and others. Each participant will make a miniature sock in class. Note: Should be familiar with sock construction. Supplies
2 colors of fingering weight sock yarn, ideally the same brand or very similar yarn base, needles (DPN or circular) in the appropriate size for the yarn, tapestry needle, pen and paper.Homework
