Embellished Knitting with Charles Gandy
Here's a chance to learn numerous ways to enhance your knitted creations through applied embellishments. From frilly ruffles to bobbles to twists and ripples, I-Cords, special finger cords, and even beading, we will explore and sample how to knit with personality!
Supplies
50 yds/.8 oz #4 (worsted-weight) yarn in main color (MC); 25 yds/.5oz #4 (worsted-weight) yarn in a second color (SC); 4, 4.5, or 5mm/US 6, 7, or 8 dpns and circular needles (lace point if possible) or straight needlesSharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes. Homework
Swatch 1: Using the SC and double-pointed needles, cast on 5 stitches and work flat in stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) for 10 rows ending with a purl row. Leave the stitches on the needle. Cut yarnSwatch 2: Using the SC and double-pointed needles, cast on 5 stitches and work flat in Garter Stitch (Knit every row) for 10 rows ending with a purl row. Leave the stitches on the needle. Cut yarn. |
