Parade of Elephants
"Sometimes a little elephant can make a big difference." – Cee Cee Creech
Cee Cee has inspired the STITCHES family—and we want to share her with you! When Joplin, Missouri, was devastated by tornadoes last year and thousands lost their homes, Cee Cee (then only 8 years old) wanted to help. She knew children had lost their toys and stuffed animals and needed something to give them hope. So she turned to her knitting. One month later, she had knit 13 elephants for the children, and as the story took hold on Facebook, raised over $3000 in pledges for the relief efforts. Elephants Remember Joplin had begun.
Let's see how far this parade can spread! Meet Cee Cee and co-host Drew Emborsky (a.k.a. The Crochet Dude™) for a noontime Knit-and-Crochet-along. Pick up your cute little pachyderm kit and get started, knitting with Cee Cee and crocheting with Drew. You may not finish over the noon hour, but you probably will before the weekend is over.
Elephants never forget so when you go home, you'll always remember that, with a little yarn and a lot of love, we can all make a difference.
All proceeds from the purchase of the Elephant Kit will be given to Cee Cee’s favorite charity, Homes of Hope Joplin, which builds homes in Joplin for those who lost theirs in the devastating tornadoes of 2011.
So grab your needles and hooks and come to this special event—two inspiring instructors, a very cool kit, and a great cause. Does it get any better than that?
