Basic Intarsia Techniques with Sarah Peasley
Intarsia knitting creates a single layer of multi-colored fabric, as in Christmas stockings with a jolly Santa motif or a vertically striped sweater. Learn a variety of tricks to keep your intarsia knitting on track and (mostly) tangle free, including preparing your materials, reading a chart, weaving in ends, and mastering duplicate stitch.
Supplies
Smooth, #4 (worsted-weight) yarn: 50 grams of main color and 10 yards each of 4 contrasting colors; 4.5mm/US 7 circular or straight needles or size to match yarn; blunt darning needle; sharp tapestry needle; scissors.Homework
With main color, cast on 25 stitches. Rows 1-6: Knit. Row 7: Purl. Row 8: Knit. Row 9: Purl. Do not bind off. Do not cut yarn.
