Freeform Fun: Knitting and/or Crochet with Myra Wood
Come spend a few hours immersed in pure creativity with Myra Wood. She'll take you on a fiber adventure into the wonderful world of freeform knitting (and crochet). You'll discover endless ways to combine various knitting and/or crochet stitches and techniques to create unique fabrics and art-to-wear items. Color, texture and design will all be explored during this inspirational process. All you need are very basic knitting and/or crochet skills. Come prepared to play!

Supplies
10-20 yards each of 15 to 20 coordinating smooth #2 to #4 (sport-to-worsted weight) yarns, any fiber; several small skeins of coordinating novelty, variegated and textured yarns; 3.75, 4 and 4.5mm/US 5, 6 and 7 short straight or circular needles: various sizes of crochet hooks from E to H; 6 safety pins or removable stitch markers; small scissors, yarn needle.

Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.

Homework
Using 4mm/US 6 needles and 4 different colors of #4 (worsted weight) yarn work the following:
Make 2 triangles using a different color of yarn for each. Cast on 1 stitch. Row 1 Knit front and back (kfb) of stitch. Row 2 Kfb 1st st, k1. Row 3 and each row until there are a total of 20 stitches Kfb 1st st, knit to end. Bind off all stitches, cut yarn and pull tail through, leaving a 5 inch tail.
Make 2 squares with 2 other colors of yarn. Cast on 1 stitch. Row 1. Knit front and back (kfb) of stitch. Row 2. Kfb 1st st, k1. Row 3 and each row until there are a total of 20 stitches. Kfb 1st st, knit to end. Then, on each row, knit to last 2 stitches, knit 2 together (k2tog). Until 2 stitches remain, k2tog, cut yarn and pull tail through, leaving a 4 inch tail.

Crochet Version
Using a G hook and 4 different colors of #4 (worsted weight) yarn work the following: Make 2 Triangles using a different color of yarn for each: Chain 2. Row 1. 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Row 2 and each row until there are a total of 20 stitches. 2 sc in 1st sc, sc to end. Cut yarn and pull tail through, leaving a 5 inch tail. Make 2 squares with 2 other colors of yarn: Create triangle as above without cutting yarn. On NEXT ROW and every row until there is 1 stitch left. Skip 1st sc and sc in each sc across. (Each row decreases 1 stitch.) Cut yarn and pull tail through, leaving a 5 inch tail.
