Texture, Purpose, Placement and Patterns with Jane Slicer Smith
This class will explore textures and their uses beyond the stitch pattern. Learn stitch construction as well as shaping and styling. Learn the profiles of different stitches. Understand stacking stitches to create ribs and explore alternatives to rib with basket stitch or double moss for knitted-on button bands. Jane designed this class to help you understand these stitches, observe your knitting in relationship to graphs and written instructions. We will discuss raised-surface texture from bobbles, bells and leaf shapes, to cables and traveling stitches for Celtic cross, zigzag and diamond patterns, as well as the functions of cables in garment styling.
