Around the World: Estonian and Shetland Lace with Brooke Nico
Lace motifs and stitch patterns from different regions of the world share many aesthetic qualities, yet each region has its own special focus. Look at Shetland and Estonian lace and receive tips and tricks to help in knitting nupps and gathered stitches so predominant in Estonian Lace. Leave class with great swatches and ideas for several projects. Note: Students must be comfortable with lace knitting. Supplies
Smooth, light-colored wool #1 (fingering) or #2 (sport) wool; 3.75, 4, or 4.5mm/US 5, 6, or 7 needles; stitch markers, pencil, paper.Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
