Sock Opus with Michelle Hunter
Want to take your sock knitting to the next level? Knit a one-of-a-kind striped masterpiece with your leftover sock yarn! Class will cover all the skills needed to design and knit your own tights, knee socks or calf socks using fingering-weight remnants. Learn easy shaping tips, weaving techniques, stripe know-how and delightful color play. Create a perfect fit using toe-up construction. Bring extra sock remnants to class to swap with fellow students for added fun.
Note: Previous toe-up sock experience required.
Minimum of 4 mini-skeins of fingering weight sock yarn, 10-15 yards each. Preferred size sock needles (US#0-#2) for 2 circular or magic loop knitting. Two colors of smooth DK or worsted weight yarn and appropriate sized circular needles to practice techniques, blunt tip tapestry needle. Bring a previously completed hand knit sock to class to use as a gauge. Optional: bring extra sock remnants to swap with classmates.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
