Two-color Knitting: Portuguese Style with Andrea Wong
The Portuguese style of knitting makes the purl stitch very easy. For this reason, when knitting circularly I prefer to knit garments inside out. This technique makes two-color knitting very smooth: where the two colors of yarn do not tangle and the tension of the fabric is very even. In this class we are going to learn all the basics of this style of knitting and then make a two-color knitting hat, learning the basics skills for many knitting projects: Fair Isle, double knitting and Bohus knitting.Note: Class includes a brief review of skills learned in 502-3. Optional materials fee: $10 for two knitting pins. Supplies
#4 (worsted weight) yarn in two contrasting colors, 4.5mm/US 7 needles 16" longSharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes. Homework
