Mosaic Knitting: Colorful Knitting the Easy Way with Melissa Leapman
You like the look of intricate colorwork but hate the thought of all those bobbins and tangled yarns? Learn the in's and out's of this deceptively easy technique.

Supplies
4 homework swatches with yarn still attached; a few balls of contrasting, brightly-colored (but solid), #4 (worsted weight) yarn (please do not choose anything too dark); sticky notes (such as Post It Notes); 5mm/US 8 knitting needles; graph paper, 5-squares-to-the-inch; pencil.

Homework
Make four swatches as follows:
Swatch 1: With smooth, solid light-colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, cast on 15 sts. Work k1, p1 rib for 1". Next Row (WS): Purl across. Slip sts onto holder.
Swatch 2: With smooth, solid light-colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, cast on 23 sts. Work k1, p1 rib for 1". Next Row (WS): Knit across. Slip sts onto holder.
Swatch 3: With smooth, solid, light-colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, cast on 27 sts. Work k1, p1 rib for 1". Next Row (WS): Purl across. Slip sts onto holder.
Swatch 4: With smooth, solid, light-colored worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles, cast on 27 sts. Work k1, p1 rib for 1". Next Row (WS): Knit across. Slip sts onto holder.
