Bind-off Bonanza with J C Briar
Creating a firm and sturdy bind-off edge is child's play; you just keep a secure grip on the yarn as you bind off. But what if you need some other kind of bind-off edge? Take this class and learn about supple and seamless bind-offs for sock tops, bind-offs that blend into ribbing, and decorative bind-offs.
Supplies
Smooth, light-colored, #4 (worsted weight) yarn; needles appropriate for yarn; a second set of needles two sizes smaller; a crochet hook roughly the same size as larger needles; and a tapestry needle.Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes. Homework
Swatches 1-3: Cast on 12 sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 1". Cut yarn leaving at least a 24" tail. Place stitches on holder. Swatches 4-8: Cast on 12 sts. Work in stockinette for 1". Cut yarn leaving at least a 24" tail. Place stitches on holder. Swatch 9: Cast on 12 sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 1". Do not cut yarn. Place stitches on holder. |
