The Edge of Knit with Candace Eisner Strick
You have to bind off anyway, right? Why not make a border at the same time? From sophisticated to funky, you can do two things at one time! Sample six border bind-offs: crochet picot, attached I-cord, applied lace, knit picot, I-cord fringe, and one more mysterious teaser!
About 2 ounces of 2 colors each of #4 (worsted weight) wool yarn and appropriately sized needles (4, 4.5, 5mm/US 6, 7, or 8); one crochet hook the same size as needles; 2 double pointed needles the same size as other needles.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
With worsted weight yarn cast on 20 sts; knit 3 rows (garter st). Leave sts on needle with yarn attached (wind off about 10 yards). Make 6 swatches.
