Felting Meets Lace with Judy Pascale
This two day class allows you ample opportunity to pursue a combination of two ancient crafts that produces a beautiful contemporary scarf.

The first of these crafts is felting. Felt itself is one of the worlds oldest textiles created from wool roving. You will be using an updated technique called Nuno felting. With this process you will layer high quality wool onto a hand-dyed silk fabric—both available in a wide selection of colors. The result is a soft, lightweight fabric with a crinkled texture.

Next you will create a knitted lace border that will complement the Nuno felted portion of the scarf both in weight and color. Using a short row technique, the scarf will follow a crescent shape that drapes beautifully.

Lace knitting and Nuno felting when effectively paired together are the perfect partners to create a one-of-a kind fashionable accent scarf for you!

Note: Materials fee
$15 for hand-dyed silk
$5 for roving

Once the silk is chosen, a quick trip to the STITCHES market could give you the exact color yarn for the lace to enhance your scarf or bring a skein of fingering weight yarn to class (a selection of the silk is available in an array of colors); 3.75mm/US 5 needles (if adjustment is needed for gauge 3.5mm or 4mm/US 4 and 6 may also be brought).

To create the correct personal gauge, bring a #4 and #6 needles if adjustment is needed.
