Intarsia with a Twist with Anne Berk
For the intrepid knitter who is told that something is difficult or impossible but wants to do it anyway, intarsia is easily knit flat, but there is a way to create seamless intarsia in the round. It is tricky, but once you know how, it is very manageable. This is knitting magic at the highest level! Class project is a tube that can be finished into a bag, a Christmas stocking, or a hat.
20 yds each of 2-3 contrasting colors, 30 yds main color in smooth, light-colored #4 (worsted-weight) yarn; 16" circular needle, 4.5 or 5mm/US 7 or 8 or appropriate needle for your yarn.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
Using any method, cast on 64 stitches with MC onto a 16" circular needle. Being careful not to twist stitches, join to work in the round. Work 1x1 ribbing for 1 inch.
