Double-ended Tunisian Crochet: Design Your Own Scarf with Ginger Luters
Doubled-ended Tunisian crochet is worked with a double-ended crochet hook and creates a truly reversible fabric with many color and texture possibilities. It is usually worked with two colors, where one of these colors predominates on each side. We'll make a sample swatch, learning the basic stitches, and then going on to explore several advanced stitches. Finally, you'll choose one or two of your favorites, calculate stitch numbers, and begin to create your own one-of-a-kind scarf.
Note: A knowledge of basic Tunisian crochet is necessary.
For sample swatch: two balls of contrasting color yarn (partial balls are fine), fingering weight or sport weight.
For the scarf: Two balls of yarn the same weight as sample yarn, approx. 190-200 yds. each (fingering weight). These yarns can be two solid colors or a combination of solid and variegated yarn with long colorways.
Size J double ended crochet hook (These hooks are available in many online sites if you can't find them locally.)
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
