Tying Up Loose Ends with Sarah Peasley
When is the last time a pattern told you exactly how to weave in those pesky yarn tails? Don't you wish they would? Learn multiple methods for dealing with the ends in garter stitch, stockinette stitch, seed stitch, ribbing, and lace, and in color stripes, Fair Isle, and intarsia. Clear up the confusion, so you can finish off your projects with ease.
50 gms smooth, light-colored, #4 (worsted-weight) yarn; 10 yards smooth, contrasting-colored #4 (worsted-weight) yarn; 4.5mm/US 7 straight or circular needles or size to match yarn; blunt darning needle; sharp darning needle; scissors.
Cast on 30 stitches.
Rows 1-10 * K1, p1; repeat from * to end of row.
Stockinette stitch section:
Row 11 Knit.
Row 12 K3, p24, k3.
Rows 13-30 Repeat rows 11 and 12.
Seed stitch section:
Row 31 * K1, p1; repeat from * to end of row.
Row 32 * P1, k1; repeat from * to end of row.
Rows 33-40 Repeat rows 31 and 32.
Second stockinette stitch section:
Row 41 Knit one row.
Row 42 K3, p24, k3.
Rows 43-60 Repeat rows 41 and 42.
Garter stitch section:
Rows 61-70 Knit.
Bind off. Please don't weave in the yarn tails!
