Secrets from the Past: Unusual Stitch Patterns from Historic Counterpanes with Candace Eisner Strick
Antique counterpanes (bedspreads) used many unusual knitting patterns such as knobs, wheat ears, bells, scallop shells, fans, and bay leaves. These beautiful stitch patterns are rarely used in today's knitting, but can be successfully incorporated into contemporary garments and accessories, adding new dimension to your knitting.
Light colored, #4 (worsted-weight) yarn and 5mm/US 8 needles. The yarns will be used to create samples, so about 2 ounces will be enough.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
