Creative Knitting: Crazy Quilt Style with Myra Wood
Learn how to design and knit in different directions to make a unique fabric based on an overall template rather than a specific pattern. A basic template will be provided to make a pillow or purse, but you'll learn how to make your own clothing templates as well.
Learn to combine triangles, squares, and rectangles to fill your shape like a jigsaw puzzle or traditional crazy quilt. We'll discuss how to knit shapes to exact sizes, ways to join as you go, and finishing and embellishing to complete your wearable work of art. You'll never look at your knitting (or your stash) the same way again!

Block the following swatch to exactly 4" x 4". Larger or smaller squares are not usable for this class but can be used later so re-knit the square
until they are the correct size when blocked for this homework task.
Using any 1 of the worsted weight yarns, work in garter stitch:
Cast on 1 stitch, knit front, back and front of same stitch. (3 sts)
2 All rows, knit front and back of 1st stitch, then knit to end of row on
each row until 1 side of the square is approximately 3.75-3.85". (Each
row increases 1 stitch.)
3 On the very next row and every row
until 1 stitch remains, knit to last 2 sts, then knit 2 together. (Each
row decreases 1 stitch.)
4 Cut yarn leaving a 5" tail and pull through.
