Basic Fair Isle Techniques with Sarah Peasley

50 grams smooth, light-colored #4 (worsted-weight) yarn; 50 grams smooth, contrasting-colored #4 (worsted-weight yarn); 16" circular needle (measured from tip to tip), size 4.5mm/US 7 or size to match yarn; 2.75mm/US C crochet hook; 10 stitch markers; sharp scissors.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
Swatch 1 With CC, cast on 15 stitches. Work stockinette stitch (knit RS rows, purl WS rows) for 3 inches. Bind off.
Swatch 2 With MC, cast on 80 stitches. Join without twisting to work in the round. Knit 4 rounds. Do not bind off. Do not cut yarn.
