Fair Isle Patterning with Hand-dyed Yarns with Kellie Nuss
Learn how to use all the gorgeous hand-dyed yarns of today in this traditional technique. Kellie will take you from the basics of the Fair Isle style of stranded knitting to choosing yarns, analyzing colors, using solids, and combining colorways.
Note: Must be able to accurately follow written instructions and knit circularly with confidence.
100 grams of fingering weight yarn in a solid or semi-solid color, 100 grams of fingering weight yarn in a coordinating hand-dyed, multicolor; (The colors in the multi-colored yarn should all show up clearly against the solid, for example don't choose a red solid and a multicolor with a lot of the same red.) 2.75mm/US 2 needles or size required to get gauge of 7 sts/inch for your preferred way of circular knitting (dpns, Magic Loop or 2 circulars).
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
With the solid color yarn, cast on 90 stitches, join for working in the round and work 2 inches of k1, p1 ribbing.
Gauge should be 7 sts/inch
