Is a zippered garment on your knitting bucket list? Learn to simply and expertly place a zipper into knitted fabric all while creating a darling small pouch.
The simple pattern can be adapted for pouches of any size. Class includes essential finishing and embroidery techniques to elevate almost any project. The pouches are a great use for leftover yarn and make fabulous gifts!
100 yards, smooth #4 (worsted weight) main color yarn, 15 yards contrasting color yarn in similar weight for zipper edge and embroidery accents, 4.5mm/US 7 needles or size needed to obtain gauge of approx. 5 sts=1" in stockinette. For class, please bring needles used in homework and additional size smaller and larger. 7" Non-separating zipper. Sharp straight pins. Sharp sewing needle. Sewing thread to match MC yarn. Sewing thread in CC for basting. Blunt tip tapestry needle. Scissors.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
Cast on 42 stitches in main color yarn, leaving a 24" tail attached. Work in stockinette for 7". (Do not work a slip stitch edge.) Bind off leaving a 24" tail attached.
Class begins immediately with zipper insertion, please have homework completed.
