Grow-With-Me: Knitting for Babies & Kids with Kate Oates
Hand knits for children are quickly outgrown. This class reviews the basics on how children's bodies grow and offers the best ways to get more wear out of each garment. It provides a description of growth patterns, guides knitters through the little math necessary to make adjustments in patterns and also gives an overview of schematic interpretation. Included are several math worksheets for adjusting stitches or rows in particular sections of a sweater. We finish up by practicing some grow-with-me tips and tricks for knitting long-fitting sweaters.
Yarn and appropriately sized needles for small circumference knitting at worsted gauge or heavier, basic calculator, pencil, scrap paper, scissors, darning needle, measuring tape, an open mind about some easy math, and a little bit of patience with yourself!
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
