Twined Textured Fingerless Mitts with Beth Brown-Reinsel
Learn and apply the Swedish techniques of Tvaandsstickning or twined knitting, by knitting a fingerless mitten using worsted weight yarn. The mitt is worked circularly on double-pointed needles and includes many techniques: the 'O' stitch, chain path, knit deep stitch, an asymmetrical thumb gusset, and traditional motifs.
Note: Must be proficient with double-pointed needles, Magic Loop or working with 2 circulars.
3 oz of plain, #4 (worsted weight) yarn (NO single ply yarns); 1 oz of contrast yarn; 4mm/US 6 dpns.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
Wind yarn as a center pull ball if it is not already a pull-skein. Find both ends of the ball before class.
Note: must be comfortable with double pointed needles, Magic Loop, or working with two circulars. The ability to knit English style (yarn held in the right hand) is helpful but not required.
The ability to work with yarn in the right hand is helpful.
