Ruffles, Ruching, and Pleats, Oh My! with Carol Sulcoski
This hands-on class looks at various easy forms of knitted embellishments and edgings, specifically ruffles, ruching, and pleats. Learn at least one version of each, including how to work it, tips and tricks, and yarn choices. If time permits we will continue to picot edging, twisted ruffles, and hems.
Supplies
A tapestry needle and some spare needles, including at least one circular needle in the appropriate size for your yarn and several dpns of various sizes.Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes. Homework
Make 4 swatches as follows:
Using a light-colored (e.g., white, cream, pale pastel, light gray) yarn that is worsted or DK-weight and the appropriate sized needles, cast on 25 stitches. Knit 4 rows. Work in stockinette stitch for 8 rows, ending with a wrong side (purl) row. Leave live stitches on stitch holder or spare needle. Do not cut working yarn; leave working yarn attached. |
