Digital Swatching for Planned Pooling in Knits with Karla Stuebing
Planned pooling stands our standard approach to knitting on its head. Instead of starting a project with a given stitch count, we determine what patterns we can achieve by using different stitch counts for an individual skein of yarn. Swatching is required to determine how the tempo of the color changes interacts with your own knitting style, tension and stitch choice. Once an initial swatch is made, designs can be explored using readily available digital tools such as cameras, cell phones, and free paint programs which allow for explorations of pattern via tiling, rotation and repetition. This class will be a combination lecture and demonstration.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
