Designing and Charting Your Own Original Cables with Lily Chin
You've done many cables before and want to get into more complex cable patterns. Maybe you even want to design your own. Learn how cable patterns are actually formed: what are the basic traits, characteristics, and manipulations? When you get a better understanding of how cable patterns work, not only can you follow the directions a whole lot better, but fewer mistakes are made. You may even be able to look at a cable pattern and figure out how to work it even without written directions!
Note: Must be comfortable reading knitting symbols or reading stitch charts. Must have worked several cables before.
Smooth, light-colored, #4 (worsted-weight) yarn that is not splitty; appropriate size needles; square graph paper with 4 boxes per inch; different colored pencils; eraser; cable needle.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
