Join-as-you-Go, No-sew Pockets with Lily Chin
Women never have enough pockets if any at all. Furthermore, most knitters avoid seaming like the plague. Learn this innovative and revolutionary way of applying patch pockets to any garment or accessory as it is being worked. Work up a miniature sample in class. Even put those dreaded gauge swatches to good use. Plan placements perfectly beforehand. Never lose a cell phone or scrounge around for lipstick or a tissue again.
Yarns used in homework, appropriate needles (including circular and double-pointed needles) of the same size(s) used, homework swatch, one yard of smooth, contrasting, scrap, cotton yarn about the same weight, one piece of graph paper about 8 squares per inch.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
With worsted or chunky weight yarn and appropriate needles, make a swatch of 15 sts in garter stitch for about an inch, then work stockinette for another inch ending ready to work a knit row, leave on needles. Have about 10 yards of yarn to work with plus another 5 in a separate ball.
