Fabrics United with Laura Bryant
Combining different types of hand-made fabrics, whether they be knitted, woven, crocheted or felted, poses particular challenges. Join Laura as you learn 2-3 techniques to combine fabrics and finish your garments like a pro, including a crocheted edge. The emphasis will be on beautiful joins, and will cover both machine and hand sewing athough hand sewing will be done in class.
Materials Fee: $3 for instructor-supplied finishing materials.


Supplies
_Bring 3 or more 6” squares of commercial fabric, either woven or jersey, that would combine well with your homework swatch
_Sewing thread in colors to match fabric and homework
_Sewing needles
_Crochet hooks size C, E, F

Knitting Basics:
_Sharp scissors
_Notebook
_Pen or pencil with eraser
_Stitch markers
_Blunt tapestry needles (large and small)
_Flexible tape measure
_Small calculator
_Needles and crochet hooks of various sizes

Homework
Bring 1 or more knitted, crocheted, hand-woven or felted swatches approx. 6” square. Weight of yarn and bulk is unimportant. More swatches give more chance to practice.
