Shetland Sky and Sea with Denise Bell
The themes of sky and sea are frequently represented in Shetland designs. Would you expect anything less from the beautiful but hard-to-reach islands located where the Atlantic Ocean meets the North Sea?

In this fine-lace class, we'll look at 2 traditional Shetland stitches: the Bird's Eye and the Cockleshell. Both stitches involve patterning on every row and do require a bit of concentration. And both are well worth the effort!
Note: Students must be able to work standard increases and decreases, be proficient at chart reading, and have experience with lace-weight yarn.

Supplies
3.5mm/US4 or 3.75mm/US5 circular needle with sharp points. A butterfly of lace weight yarn for swatching will be supplied.

Knitting basics: sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles and/or crochet hooks of various sizes.
