Pieced Hexie Buffet with Mickey Depre
Learn how to take the Hexie to a whole new level with my Pieced Hexies Patterns.
Pieced Hexies magic is wrapping small quilt blocks around your papers to create a hexie that brings endless individual creativity to any English Paper Piecing project. The key is marking the alignment guides so that each Pieced Hexie lines up. Let me show you how.
Together we will create a WHEELIE, JAZZY, and COGS Pieced Hexies. Students will leave class with a new technique, 3 samples, and their imaginations running wild.
Pieced Hexies are a lot like potato chips…you can’t stop at just one. Making them keeps your hands busy and out of the chip bowl…so bonus-bonus!
Note: English Paper Piecing experience is helpful but not necessary. Sewing machines provided for class use.

Materials fee: $10 for Hexie papers, hand needle sampler, thread, and thimble pad

Supplies
Thread for basting (an odd spool you wish to use up; a bright contrasting color is best); scissors for fabric cutting (at least 5-6" in length); rulers: 3.5" or 4" square and/or 1" x 6" small square ruler; 6" x 12" for fabric cutting.
OPTIONAL: Thimble (if you don't have one I will have a possible solution for you); Clover Table-Top needle threader; a portable OTT light.
FABRIC:
Bring LOTS of scraps — we can play with choices — there are so many variables that giving specifics for fabric requirements cannot be done. Scraps on average should be at least the equivalent of 10" square in size. Toss in a fat quarter or 2 to have some consistency in fabric between all the designs.
