A Taste of Lace with Andrea Jurgrau
The focus of this workshop is a small lace sampler that illustrates 4 different lace knitting styles; Shetland, Estonian, German and Orenburg. We will begin by learning a provisional cast-on and then move on to each of the lace traditions, discussing the differences and similarities. We will work on the sampler together, practicing the techniques which include two different ways to make nupps. We will discuss how to turn the sampler into a scarf project. Finally, we will culminate with a blocking demonstration, blocking the sampler and discussing best blocking practices.
Smooth, solid color lace or fingering weight yarn; assorted knitting needles size 2-5; cotton waste yarn.
