Textured Double-knitting with Alasdair Post-Quinn
Do you love the reversible fabric of double-knitting but want something more than endless stockinette? Not quite ready for double-knit cables or lace? Add some intrigue with double-knit textures! Add purls to your reversible repertoire to expand the possibilities available to you. In a small swatch, you'll learn a few interesting ways to add texture to your double-knitting and the pros and cons of each. As with most of my other workshops, you’ll also learn a really clean double-knit selvedge and a bind-off that mirrors the cast-on.
Note: Previous double-knitting experience is required. (You should have taken Alasdair's Introduction to Double Knitting or have done some other standard [not slip stitch] double-knitting colorwork on your own or in another workshop.)
2 well-contrasting colors of plain yarn in the DK to worsted weight range and a pair of straight or circular needles in the proper size for your yarn.
Knitting and Crochet Basics
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
If you're not already familiar with my cast-on, please learn it before the workshop so we we can move right into new techniques. The cast-on we'll be doing is subtly different from the one currently online but it's best if you have a solid foundation. You can find a video tutorial on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQpsC1FKGrU. Also, please bring a sample or photo of your previous double-knitting work, if handy.
