Play Modern-Fitzgerald with Gyleen Fitzgerald
It’s fast, it’s quick, it’s geometric and it’s free-style piecing with control. We will
start with the thought of having fun and being in the moment. The technique is to use the
Polygon2 Tool and Butterfly Seam to create a BOLD wall-hanging that shouts, "Modern" or
"Contemporary". This workshop is about you. Learn the Butterfly Seam technique while exploring design.
Basic quilt-making skills required: rotary cutting, piecing a 1/4" seam.
Note: Sewing machines provided for class use.
Materials fee: $45 for pattern, Polygon tool, and Polygon2 tool
(3) 1 yard each of assorted solid fabric or semi-solid or batik (the 3 fabrics should be from a narrow color range i.e., green, blue, purple or shades of one color.
(10) 3" x 22" strips of assorted accent fabric, solid, semi-solid or batik.
45" x 60" batting for design wall.
Sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with an eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles & crochet hooks of various sizes.
Using the 1 yard cuts, crosscut into 5 ½" strips by width of fabric. Cut at least (2)
strips from each fabric.
