Learn Rigid-heddle Weaving and Use Up Your Stash with Deborah Jarchow
Use up those leftover balls of yarn! This weaving method is easy, fun, and creative. Learn ways to combine different colors, yarn textures, and fibers as you make a unique and beautiful scarf.
Note: Rigid-heddle looms provided for class use.
Lab fee: $10.00
__Approximately 500 yards of yarns from your stash (or new from the market) in a combination of sport- to worsted-weight with a smooth (not hairy) finish. Pick colors that work well together. Accent ribbon or ladder yarns can be added to the mix. The mixture of yarns will be used for the warp (lengthwise) yarns. This should include at least 200 yards for the weft (or cross yarn) in one solid color that blends with the other colors for the weft or cross threads. The warp yarns should be smooth (no single ply), non-hairy, and strong enough to stand tugging with your hands.
__About 10-15 yards of waste yarn (worsted-weight acrylic works best)
__Cardboard tube from inside a paper towel roll
__2 brown paper grocery bags
wind your yarns into balls before class.
