Handspinning Art Yarns with Natalie Redding
Handspin artistic and beautiful yarns while also learning the scientific facts, physics, and potential for many types of fiber. Beyond the ability to create the finished yarn, understanding fundamentals makes you a well-rounded hand spinner. Can the yarn you are spinning be used as a warp? Does it matter if it’s a Z-twist or S for crochet or knitting? Are all fiber types suitable for add-ins? Does using damaged fiber really matter? Learn the answers to these questions and more. Students will leave class with an understanding of how to make artistic yarns and the knowledge of what their yarn type is best suited for. Beyond these fundamentals, artistic methods such as: different tailspinning, add-in, and plying techniques will be taught in a new and interesting ways.
