Cables To Boot with Candace Eisner Strick
Knitted cuffs for the tops of boots are fashionable as well as practical. They are also the perfect place to hone some new knitting skills. We will cover a perfectly stretchy cast-on as well as a matching stretchy bind-off, reversible cables so you can turn down the cuff, and how to cable without a cable needle.
All of the above techniques can be applied to a matching cowl.
Note: Must have some experience in knitting in the round.
2 ozs of worsted weight smooth wool that you would like to use for your boot tops, US8 needles for your favorite method of working in the round, either double pointed needles or 2 circular needles, or one long circular to do magic loop.
Knitting Basics including sharp scissors, notebook, pen or pencil with eraser, stitch markers, blunt tapestry needles (large and small), flexible tape measure, small calculator, and needles and crochet hooks of various sizes.
With worsted weight yarn and US8 needles (not the ones listed in the supply list but a separate needle), cast on 36 stitches Working back and forth work in k1, p1 ribbing for about 2 inches. Leave about 2 yds of yarn attached and all sts on needle.
