Triangles, Diamonds and Squares...Oh My! Blanket with Grace Akhrem
Make a garter-stitch blanket full of short-row, half-square triangles. The fabric looks much like an assembly of mitered squares, but is rather a study in decreasing short rows in one triangle, followed by increasing short rows in a second triangle—and a second color.
Learn how to work slip-stitch selvages and wrap-and-turn short rows as you make your sample blocks. Grace will discuss ways various layouts for the finished blocks, how to alter the size of the squares, and show you how to seam the blocks together. You will go home ready to start your own blanket.
Note: Must be able to cast on, knit and bind off.
__4.5 or 5mm/US7 or 8 needles (single point or circular, whichever kind you are comfortable with).
__At least 50 yards each of two light colors, worsted-weight yarn (smooth in texture). Please note this is not the yarn you will be using for your actual blanket, in class we will learn the techniques needed to make the squares on practice yarn.
__Locking stitch markers
Materials fee: $6 for the pattern.
