Redding Method Yarn Dyeing Intensive (Full Payment - Shared Room) with Natalie Redding
Have you ever wondered how your favorite Indie dyers achieve some of their creatively colored yarns? Well, you can do it, too!
During this intensive workshop, you’ll learn theory and techniques to achieve your favorite colorways on protein- fiber yarns.
In the hands-on portion, you’ll dye yarns in the following methods:
• Saturated single color
• Self-striping fade
Also as an added bonus, we will make a fringed scarf then dye it to see how simply one can dye a finished item.
Dyeing chemistry will be addressed in an easy-to-understand way which doesn’t include heavy mathematics or arduous calculations. Learn to figure out how each dye works, how to repeat colorways, and solve problems.
Exploring different options for studio set-ups, heat sources, dye supplies, and yarn characteristics will build the foundation you’ll use throughout your fiber-arts journey. Amateur or professional, Natalie is your guide, Camp STITCHES is your studio.
Materials fee: $160 covers nine 100-gram skeins of wools, silks, and blends; yarns for sampling; use of dyes and equipment.
Assorted needles or crochet hooks appropriate for fingering and aran weight yarn to work swatches of dyed yarn.
