Lace Unlocked: An odyssey to the heart of the art (Payment Plan - Local Attendee) with Franklin Habit
Lace has been called the pinnacle of knitting, raising the craft to its highest potential. This fascinating, in-depth workshop will discuss (and practice) each aspect of its creation including: the history of lace knitting and its development in different times and places; the choice of tools and materials; the structure of knitted lace fabric; the creation of stitch motifs; and methods for planning new designs or modifying ones that already exist. We will look closely at antique and modern master- pieces and try our hands at mak- ing our own, with each student choosing her or his own path of study. If you have enjoyed work- ing from lace patterns, but only dreamt of creating your own; or if you just love lace and would like to understand what lies beneath the pretty surface, “Lace Unlocked” is for you.
Students must be fluent in lace knitting, in- cluding reading and working from lace charts; this is not a “learn-to-knit” class.
Payment plans: Each payment includes a $10 service charge.
