Mobius Scarves with Karen Frisa
Learn the magic of a moebius scarf! This intriguing scarf is worked from the center out. It can be worn in several different ways, including as a hood/headscarf. We will learn what a moebius is, a quick and invisible cast-on, and some variations for the bind-off. Students will start a full-sized moebius in class, to be finished at home.
__100-200g worsted-weight or bulky yarn that would make a nice scarf (more yarn for a wider or longer scarf)
__47" or 40" circular needle in a size that gives you a nice scarf fabric (see Homework)
Work a gauge swatch and determine your gauge (stitches per inch) before you get to class. Choose either garter stitch (knit every row) or the 4x4 Basketweave Stitch that follows. (The stitch pattern that you choose will be the one that you use for your mobius. Choose a needle size that gives you a nice scarf fabric--not too stiff. The garter stitch mobius will be easier to work in class.)
Basketweave Stitch (multiple of 8 sts)
Rows 1-4: *K4, p4; rep from * across.
Rows 5-8: *P4, k4; rep from * across.
Repeat Rows 1-8 for Basketweave Stitch.
