Making the Gradient with Gwen Bortner
Gradients, fades, and transitions are different names for yarns and kits that create a similar look with a beautiful flow of colors through a fabric.
You might be surprised to find that you can create your own color transitions in your own color choices with minimal stress and maximum success. The secret is understanding a few "formulas" for combining yarns and a couple of simple guidelines for color selection. And the best news is that the knitting is easy!
Spend class time playing with color, experimenting with different colors, learning a few "no-fail" formulas, and develop your own signature fabric. No need to follow the crowd. Make your own gradient!
__Small amounts of fine-weight yarn (fingering-weight or lighter) in a variety of colors (at least 5 —more is better) to form a gradient
__Knitting needles in a variety of sizes appropriate for knitting your yarn selection as Single, Double and Triple strand (generally US #5 – US #9).
