Try-on then Cast-on Cardi with Sarah Peasley
Designing your own cardigan will be easy with an informed advantage--the Try-on then Cast-on approach.
Let's begin with taking your measurements then trying on knit jersey samples made exclusively for sizing. These samples include options for standard and full figures and the combo sizes (smaller backs and larger fronts) that work well for many women. They will help you check the fit at the shoulders and armholes, as well as help determine the sleeve and body length (see schematic illustration).
Once you decide which sample fits best, you will trace a life-size schematic and get to work plugging the numbers from your pre-knit gauge swatch into the schematic's pattern. We will discuss ease, armhole and neck shaping, sleeve construction, and finishing. This will be your go-to pattern for your knit wardrobe once Sarah shares how to easily tweak it for sweaters and vests.
Note: Must have completed at least one sweater before taking this class. Please dress appropriately (tank or t-shirt layer) to assist in taking accurate measurements.
